Official Press Release: Philippine Premiere of ‘Catching Fire’ Teaser Trailer on April 15


It begins with a spark and the world will be watching the upcoming teaser trailer of 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' at the MTV Movie Awards and on April 15 (Manila Time). Catch #theSPARK in Philippine Cinemas and IMAX on November 21st.

MTV announced today that the “2013 MTV Movie
Awards” will exclusively debut the never-before-
seen official teaser trailer for the long awaited
second installment of Lionsgate’s Hunger Games
film franchise, “The Hunger Games: Catching
Fire,” LIVE on Sunday, April 14 at 9:00 p.m. ET/
PT. To celebrate the premiere, the film’s star Liam
Hemsworth will officially give the world its first
glimpse of the film. The teaser trailer will then be
available online
at, in partnership
with Internet Explorer, after it airs on television.
The “2013 MTV Movie Awards” will air across
MTV’s global network of more than 60 channels
reaching more than a half-billion households
around the world. The debut marks the first
footage released of “The Hunger Games: Catching
Fire” ahead of its November 22, 2013 theatrical
release date.
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” begins as
Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence)
has returned home safe after winning the 74th
Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute
Peeta Mellark (played by Josh Hutcherson).
Winning means that they must turn around and
leave their family and close friends, embarking on
a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way
Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but
the Capitol is still very much in control as
President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger
Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that
could change Panem forever. “The Hunger
Games: Catching Fire” is directed by Francis
Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s
Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik.
The novel on which the film is based is the
second in a trilogy that has over 50 million copies
in print in the U.S. alone. Lionsgate will release
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” on November
22, 2013.
The “2013 MTV Movie Awards” will serve as the
official kick off to the Summer Blockbuster season
with rising superstar and host Rebel Wilson set to
go off and deliver the show’s trademark
irreverent celebration of the movies, actors and
music that audiences love LIVE on Sunday, April
14 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. Wilson will be joined by
MTV’s Inaugural “Comedic Genius Award”
recipient Will Ferrell, who is nominated for “Best
On-Screen Duo” with Zach Galifianakis for “The
Campaign,” “Trailblazer Award” recipient Emma
Watson who is nominated in three categories
including “Best Female Performance,” “Best Kiss”
and “Best Musical Moment” for her role in “The
Perks of Being a Wallflower” and a special musical
performance by Selena Gomez. Additional
performers and presenters will be announced at a
later date.
