In West Michigan the Saugatuck based Waterfront Film Festival draws movies lovers from the area and prior to their June 14th start a film with strong buzz leads the pack with a June 13th screening event of their own. The film is called '7 Stones' and stars Saugatuck’s own Melissa Anschutz along with Michigan born actor DJ Perry.

The film originally explored the options of an initial festival screening but the film was not fully finished until after the submission deadline. Two previous work-in-progress screenings were done at the GRAM (Grand Rapids Art Museum) and at Grand Rapid’s Celebration Cinemas for the Compass Film Academy. The completion delay was mostly due to the film’s CGI (computer generated imagery) extensive scenes. The production team also used notes from the “in progress” screenings to help incorporate final changes into the film.

The 47 minute film directed by Grand Rapids native Tom Norton was produced under his 3rd Coast Film Partners company in association with Lansing, MI based Collective Development Incorporated. cdiproductions.com. The powerful and moving story of political prisoners has current themes taken right from today’s headlines. Producers opted to get right to business with an event screening that will be a kick off to additional theatrical and festival showings.

The film showing will be at Corel Gables on Butler Street in downtown Saugatuck. 7:30 kick off followed by afterglow. To purchase tickets, go to 3rdcoastfilm.com and use the secure PayPal link. Stars and director will be in attendance. Early ticket buys are encouraged as the film has sold out previous showings.
