'Harry Potter' Lead Star Daniel Radcliffe To Receive Hero Award From Trevor

In 2008, 'Harry Potter' lead actor Daniel Radcliffe became aware of the Trevor Project while doing the play 'Equus'. Then, he appeared in public service announcements and did public statements in support of the organization.

What is Trevor Project?

It is a leading organization for suicide prevention efforts among gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered youths. It was founded by James Lecesne, Peggy Rajski (love the name) and Randy Stone in 1998 after their 1994 short film, 'Trevor', which won an Oscar.

The Hero Award

Last Monday, they announced that Daniel is this year's recipient of their Hero Award, an award that recognizes a person who serves as an inspiration to sexual minority youths and increases visibility and understanding of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning, or LGBTQ community.

In his interview with The Associated Press, Daniel said:
It's fantastic. The fact that they think of what I've done by promoting awareness of The Trevor Project itself and the issues that it works to promote and help is a great honor.

He added:
The people that are doing the heroic things are the people answering phones 24 hours a day in the Trevor call centers. I think that out of everything that I've done so far in my career, I think this is absolutely one of the most important, if not the most important, thing that I'm associated with.

Oh I love you more hubbie. So kind of you. You're such a great person inside and out.

His proud moments

He proudly shared that some of the audience members of his Broadway play, 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying', acknowledge his work with the Trevor Project.
I meet people at the stage door every night that thank me for what I'm doing with the Trevor Project.

He plays the role of Harry Potter, a hero in Wizarding World, in 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2', which is out this July 15, but in real life he is also a hero.

The ceremony of The Trevor Hero Award will happen this June in New York.
