Freddie Aguilar: Charice and Arnel Pineda Proved That Filipinos are "MONKEYS"!!!

According to 'Anak' singer Freddie Aguilar, that Charice and Arnel Pineda prove that Filipinos are "Monkeys".

Who are you to say that?

English is one of our primary languages, so what's wrong on singing english songs? Is that a sin?

Omg, use your m#nd. Binibigyan tayo nina Charice at Arnel ng karangalan. They are in US of course they will sing in English, so the audience will understand them.

Wonder Girls of South Korea translated their hit single 'Nobody' in English.

Gusto mo bang sumikat ulit?

I eat bananas but I am not monkey!!!

Kung gusto ninyong mainis basahin ninyo ITO!!!

It could be jealousy, 'cos Arnel and Charice was able to afford a Mansion for Raquel,Charice,. A good home for his family,Arnel, and a lots and lots of money when you convert dollars to peso. Arnel and Charice is really rag to richest and really very rich story. I myself is also jealous of of what these two have achieve. But i will not call them MONKEY, or US pinoy as MONKEY. These two, Arnel and Charice are the pride of Philippines. I am proud of THEM. It proves that there are lot of really good singer/s in Pinas which is capable of going international/global if only given a chance or break. Most of all will speak in English even i am a filipino or ilonggo from Bacolod City. IF YOU HAVE NOTHING GOOD TO SAY DON'T SAY ANYTHING GOOD AT ALL. Mabuhay kayo ARNEL AND CHARICE. Ewan ko lang sa UNGGOY.

To be honest I'm really not a big fan of all the whole TFC or GMA stuff that they play on TV. What I am a fan of is talent. It's a gift that not everybody in this world possess. Now everybody does have their right to their own opinion, but be careful because not everybody thinks the same way. Specially, never let the wrong people hear your opinions. All hell might break loose. Monkey see may not always monkey do.

So yeah, Arnel Pineda and Charice maybe monkeys. That's fine if you think that way, but I'm pretty sure once in your life you Mr. Freddie Aguilar has song a song that was originated by someone else.

Now here is my opinion. Arnel, Charice and yourself are and can be considered as monkeys but there's a difference between you and them two. Those two are some smart monkeys and you, well pretty much is just a monkey. They're monkeys with better talent and sorry to say but now a better future then you ever had and ever will get. Monkey say and they Monkey did. Now you the opinionated monkey needs to learn off them because as far as I look at it you Mr. Freddie Aguilar did Monkey WRONG. Those two now have more bananas then you do and probably will ever have. You can go to the nearest vendor and buy some bananas if you want.

Now let's see what your monkey can do!!

It's pretty harsh to comment about someone being a monkey just because they sang someone elses songs and sounded just like them too.. I think it's an unfair judgement. I know Mr. Aguilar wanted to voice out his dissappointment towards our filipino talents, I still see no professionalism sa pagsasabi niya non. For him to be a folk icon, he should thought about the people who look up to him. He made a public comment about someone who is younger than him and someone who may have also thought of him as someone to be respected. Sana instead of mocking and publicly humiliating them, he should've chosen to become their mentors nalang, shared his thoughts and taught them something he knows about being a musician, hindi yung kakampi siya sa amerikanang Mariah Carey. The least person who I would think would make lait are filipino friends would be a filipino. To compare with what Charice and Mr. Pineda does from what Mr. Aguilar did, the folk singer is the most dissappointing, if I may say.

I agree with Ka Freddie minus the unggoy, kasi pera pera lang yan commercialized ba, 1st time i heard & saw charice & arnel in cable tv & internet, i wasn't impressed, no big deal, here in our country everybody's doing it i mean marami
ok sama ako sa inyo journey pero kantahin ko laki sa layaw, i dont think journey will agree & let him arnel lead the journey to the glory of the filipinos.

First of all, why would Mariah say something about monkeys? That would show what kind of a person she is. She has also to know that the monkeys she calls are the same monkeys who helped her get her name. Well, for someone like Mariah to be saying something demeaning as that, it is a shame. Also, who is she to say that? Does not all of the artists in the world wants to sing someone else's song? Doesn't she sing Michael Jackson's "I'll be there?" I am sorry, but for her to brand Filipinos as monkeys is unacceptable. She has to look back of where she came from. And for Mr. Freddie Aguilar, I just would have to say that he is WITH TOTAL ENVY to these two successful and famous Filipino artists. Mr Aguilar did not recieve that much recognition and popularity than Charice and Arnel. Too bad, he is trying to elevate himself at the expense of Charice and Arnel but in the wrong way. I am ashamed of him. Nakakahiya siya, the joke is on him. He is showing na kung ano talaga ang pagkatao mo, Mr Aguilar. Sino ba ang mas masagwa ngayon, na you are putting your Filipino if ARNEL AND CHARICE ARE "MONKEYS" WHAT WILL THAT MAKE YOU? AN ORANGUTAN OR A CHIMPANZEE?

In my opinion, Freddie Aguilar has the right to say that because his song "Anak" has been translated to more than fifty languages around the globe. Don't say that he doesn't have that much recognition and popularity compared to those two because he DOES. And the only thing he's trying to point out is that Filipino singers who are given the chance to show the world the greatness of Filipino music should grab that chance to sing Filipino songs instead of English ones. I mean, if you can sing well in English and be recognized globally for it, why can't you sing a Filipino song and be praised for it too? Why not show true Filipino talent by singing what is your own?

Post #14..excellent post..On another note..I watch this whole issue at Boy and Kris show SNN is it? Anyway, Pineda, Charrice and Jackson wanna be Gary V all belongs to the same network ABS.Usually this big mouthed Kris would defend artist who belongs to her network. But in this case she said nothing, Im thinking is it because once upon a time Ka Freddie helped her mom in some ways during the famous EDSA revolution and eventually pave way for her to the presidency...

Freddie Aguilar is entitled to his own opinion. Charice, Arnel Pineda and Gary Valenciano do not make them less of a Filipino when they sing English songs which originally sang by Foreign singers. There is no problem if they will continuously desire to sing English songs as long as the lyrics of what they will sing are praiseworthy and inspiring.

post 16...aren't you just adding fuel to the fire by your comments? If you don't want Filipinos to fight in forums about this then don't keep blaming him and criticizing what he said. Sure he wasn't exactly very professional about saying it, but he has a point. Try to see it in his point of view as well. He's not really telling them to stop singing English songs, but just wants them to at least sing one or two songs in filipino. there is no question about their talent. It's about how they use their talent to show Filipino music.

Being affected by it means you're being guilty about it. That it holds some truth. Stop twisting his opinion. and FGS, stop it with the monkey thing already. It was JUST an expression. Get over it. This is not the first time we've been called that. You people keep focusing on tags and the like and that's what makes other people want to call you that more. This was not about the monkey thing, this was about talent and how to use it. If you don't get it, then...

People, let us not argue with each other. Do not attack/bash another such as "get some education". Respect other's OPINION and stay with the topic.

I agree with the first few comments.
